Rent Facilities Fields and Parks

No matter the sport, event or activity, the City of St. Catharines has the space for you! You can rent a variety of spaces with the City, including community centres, arenas, fields and diamonds, tennis courts and parks.

 

Renting a facility

Before choosing to rent a City facility, field or park, please view our Facility Rental Terms and Conditions, and our Alcohol Policy if you plan on serving alcohol as part of your rental.

All rentals are subject to security deposit and insurance.

Community centre rentals

Need a venue to host your next birthday, retirement or anniversary party? Or looking for a spot for a bridal or baby shower? We have many community facilities with different types and sizes of rooms available for you to host your next function:

  • Port Weller Community Centre
  • Russell Avenue Community Centre
  • Seymour-Hannah Sports and Entertainment Centre
  • St. Catharines Kiwanis Aquatics Centre
  • St. Catharines Museum and Welland Canals Centre

Rates and fees

Community facility rentals are subject to the following rates and fees:

Large halls (capacity of more than 150): $55.15 per hour (includes tax)

  • Port Weller Community Centre Gym
  • Russell Avenue Community Centre Assembly Room (maximum capacity of 100 with seats only, or 75 with seats and tables)
  • St. Catharines Kiwanis Aquatics Centre Irene Locke Room and Lawrence Locke Room (max. capacity of 54)

Large meeting rooms (capacity of 56 to 150): $38.60 per hour (includes tax)

  • Russell Avenue Community Centre Meeting Room (max. capacity of 50 with seats only, or 40 with seats and tables)
  • St. Catharines Kiwanis Aquatics Centre Irene Locke Room (max. capacity of 36)

Small meeting rooms (capacity of 55 or less): $24.25 per hour (includes tax)

  • Port Weller Birthday Party Room (max. capacity of 25 with seats only, or 20 with seats and tables)
  • Russell Avenue Community Centre Craft Room (max. capacity of 10 with seats only)
  • St. Catharines Kiwanis Aquatics Centre Lawrence Locke Room (max. capacity of 18)
  • St. Catharines Kiwanis Aquatics Centre Meeting Room (max. capacity of eight)

Late night premium rental fee: $30.35 per hour

  • Rate is applied on top of the regular rental fee after 9 p.m. at community centres, older adult centres and Kiwanis Aquatics Centre
  • Rate applies every hour after 9 p.m.

Arenas and ice rentals

Older adult centre rentals

Our three older adult centres have a variety of rooms and halls that can fit your next event's needs. View more information on renting an older adult centre.

Park and pavilion rentals

We have over 1,000 acres of public parkland in St. Catharines. Our parks, pavilions and outdoor spaces are perfect settings for your next family or social group gathering, special event, instructional class, picnic, engagement or wedding photoshoot.

We have rental permits available for picnics, special events and photos at the following park areas. Picnics are unavailable at Lakeside Park Carousel, Lester B. Pearson Park and Montebello Park.

Burgoyne Woods

Burgoyne Woods' natural areas contain streams and a variety of landscapes, providing for lovely backdrops for photos. Picnic areas and fire pits are great settings to hold your next family get-together.

Happy Rolph's Animal Farm

Located along the shores of Lake Ontario, Happy Rolph's Animal Farm offers a tranquil setting for peaceful lunches and wedding photoshoots.

Jaycee Gardens

Hidden just beyond the bustle of Ontario Street on the shores of Martindale Pond, Jaycee Gardens offers a wide array of fall flowers. Remnants of a lock from the third Welland Canal are preserved in the park and provide an ideal backdrop for photos.

Lakeside Park Carousel

The beautiful carousel at Lakeside Park offers a stunning backdrop for your next photoshoot or special event.

Lester B. Pearson Park

The Rotary Club of St. Catharines' generously donated funds helped build Lester B. Pearson Park's picnic pavilion. There is also lots of greenspace, a playground and splash pad available for nearby activities.

Montebello Park

Located downtown, Montebello Park features a rose garden, ornamental fountain and band shell.

Morningstar Mill

Located on DeCew Road, Morningstar Mill features an historic mill, a restored turn-of-the-century farmhouse, stone bridge and waterfall.

Pavilions

We have six pavilions available for you to rent for events, picnics and photos:

  • Burgoyne Woods Pavilion
  • Grantham Lion's Pavilion
  • Happy Rolph's Pavilion
  • Lakeside Park Pavilion
  • Lester B. Pearson Park Pavilion
  • Montebello Park Pavilion

Rates and fees

Our park rentals are subject to the following rates and fees:

General park rental

  • With 0 to 49 people: $99.25 per day plus insurance
  • With 50 to 149 people: $187.55 per day plus insurance

Pavilion rental

  • With 0 to 49 people: $132.35 per day plus insurance
  • With 50 to 149 people: $264.65 per day plus insurance
  • Please contact us before completing your Facility Rental Request Form for a rental with more than 150 people.
  • Hydro usage for pavilions: $38.75

Photography permit

  • $38.60 per hour plus insurance

Instructional class permit

  • Required for activities like yoga, fitness camps, etc.
  • $27.55 per hour plus insurance

Soccer field rentals

We have three types of soccer fields available for rent: Type A, Type B and Type C fields. Renters who have seasonal bookings take precedence over one-time or casual rentals.

Re-schedules and field closures

We require 72 hours' notice if you would like to re-schedule your booking. Our Field Hotline has all the latest field closures. Just call 905.688.5601 ext. 1534 for the latest updates.

Type A Fields

Our Type A Fields:

  • Have lights
  • Are used for games
  • Are regularly painted with lines
  • May have washrooms and bleachers

Our Type A Fields include:

  • Berkley Park - Fields #1 and #2
  • Grantham Lions Park
  • Lancaster Park
  • Lester B. Pearson Park - East and West Fields
  • West Park - Fields #1 and #2

Type B Fields

Our Type B Fields:

  • Do not have lights
  • Are painted with lines by a roving crew as per their schedule
  • Are not painted with lines on weekends

Our Type B Fields include:

Our Type C Fields are suitable for practice only and are not painted with lines.

Our Type C Fields include:

Rates and fees

Field booking payments are due at the time of booking and non-refundable. We require 72 hours' notice to re-schedule a booking, or additional fees may apply. Depending on your rental, additional fees may also apply for the use of dressing rooms, concession booths, special occasion permits and food and beverage park permits.

Our soccer field rentals are subject to the following rates and fees:

Type A Fields

  • Prime Time Adults (6 p.m. to 11 p.m.): $38.05 per hour

Type B Diamonds

  • Do not have lights
  • Are painted with lines by a roving crew as per their schedule
  • Are not painted with lines on weekends

Our Type B Diamonds include:

  • Community Park - Fields #3 and #4
  • Douglas Park
  • Fitzgerald Park
  • John Dempsey Park - Fields #1 and #2
  • Kernahan Park
  • Pic/Myles Leeson Park

Rates and fees

Special events

When hosting a special event at one of the city's parks, please review the following information and optional services available.

Special Event Permit

A Special Event Permit is required if you are renting three or more amenities in your park and/or the attendance for your event is over 150 people. Please review the Special Event Planning Guide for some of the requirements that may need to be met in order to safely run a special event on City properties. 

Serving alcohol

Learn more information about serving alcohol at your special event. You may need to apply for a Special Occasion Permit.

Recycling services

Niagara Region offers recycling services (blue and green container rentals) for community public events taking place in St. Catharines.

Water Wagon

Niagara Region's Water Wagon provides clean drinking water to not-for-profit and charitable events in St. Catharines from May to October.
