The City of St. Catharines will implement special event parking rates this weekend to manage increased demand during the Somekinda Festival and other downtown activities.
Special event parking will cost $20 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30 and Sunday, Aug. 31 at the following City-operated lots and garages:
Payments are accepted via cash or the HonkMobile app.
Parking will remain free at the Market Square and Garden Park lots during the St. Catharines Farmers Market on Saturday morning.
Set up for Somekinda Festival begins Wednesday, Aug. 27 and portions of the park and nearby streets will be closed through Tuesday, Sept. 2. Temporary fencing will restrict access to event areas, including the pavilion and washrooms. Portable washrooms will be provided. The playground will close to the public during festival hours, from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
A portion of Lake Street, from Queen to William streets, will temporarily close to traffic from 11 p.m. to midnight on both event days to allow safe pedestrian exit from the event site.
On-street spaces on Queen Street between Midland St and Lake Street will be reserved for accessibility needs.
Select spaces on Midland Street and the William Street Lot will be closed for event operations.
On-street parking remains free on the weekend in the downtown core.
