Residents of Port Dalhousie Ward will head to the polls this spring to elect a new representative for Ward 6 on St. Catharines City Council.
The by-election was called following the passing of Ward 6 Councillor Carlos Garcia whose dedication and service to the community are remembered fondly. City Council declared the councillor’s seat vacant at its Jan. 13 meeting and voted to hold a byelection for the vacancy.
The by-election will take place on Monday, April 14, 2025, with polls open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eligible voters will have two opportunities to cast their ballots early during advance voting on Thursday, April 3 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday, April 12 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Check stcatharines.ca/Elections for further details.
Nominations are open starting today (Jan. 28) and close at 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28. Individuals interested in running must meet the eligibility requirements outlined in the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, and submit their nomination forms to the Office of the City Clerk before the deadline.
