Jan. 28 winter control update: parking ban remains, City crews continue cleanup
While winter operations continue, the City of St. Catharines has officially ended the Significant Weather Event declared on Sunday, Jan. 25. City crews continue to address the impacts of the storm, which included high winds causing drifting snow and prolonged extreme-cold temperatures.
To allow crews to safely and effectively complete snow clearing operations, the on-street parking ban remains in effect. Residents are reminded not to park on City streets during this time, as vehicles may be ticketed or towed. The parking ban is scheduled to expire on Thursday, Jan. 29, at 6 p.m.
Snow removal operations in downtown St. Catharines are tentatively planned for overnight Thursday, Jan. 29 into the early morning hours on Friday. Vehicles should be removed from the streets to allow for work to take place. Crews will start at about 11 p.m. City garages and lots are free overnight. We remind residents and visitors that a year-round overnight parking restriction is in place in the downtown core from 3 a.m. to 6 a.m. in all metered zones.

The City thanks residents and businesses for their continued patience and cooperation as crews work to restore safe travel conditions across the community. A big thank you to our City crews, who have been working around the clock since Sunday morning, tackling snow, wind, and cold to help keep our community safe and connected.
