The City of St. Catharines Accessibility Advisory Committee (AAC) is proud to announce the recipients of the 2026 Accessibility Matters Here Award campaign, recognizing businesses and community organizations that have made meaningful strides in advancing accessibility and inclusion.
Delivered in partnership with the Joint Accessibility Advisory Committee (JAAC) member municipalities of Grimsby, Lincoln, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Pelham, Port Colborne, Thorold and West Lincoln, the 2026 awards mark a pilot year of this initiative for the St. Catharines AAC.
This year’s award recipients are:
• Accessible Employment – Kalsada Coffee Bar, 393 St. Paul St.
• Accessible Built Environment – Westview Centre 4 Women, 17 Gale Cresc.
• Accessible Customer Service – {pocket}CHANGE, 393 St. Paul St.
“These recipients demonstrate leadership and a strong commitment to advancing accessibility,” said Diane Foster, Chair of the St. Catharines AAC. “Their efforts are helping to improve equitable access for people with disabilities in our community.”
The awards are being announced during National AccessAbility Week (May 31–June 6, 2026), which celebrates the contributions of Canadians with disabilities and recognizes the work being done to remove barriers and build a more accessible and disability-inclusive Canada.
Award recipients will be presented with a certificate of recognition and a door decal at the June 22 meeting of City Council. The decal signals to customers and community members that a business is committed to accessibility and inclusion.
The AAC thanks all nominees and community partners who continue to remove barriers and create more inclusive spaces across St. Catharines.
