On June 24, 2024, St. Catharines City Council resolved to pass a Notice of Intention to Designate the following property under Section 29 of the Ontario Heritage Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. O.18, as amended, as a property of cultural heritage value and interest:

Grantham Rail Trail repairs

The Grantham Rail Trail will be undergoing some pavement repairs this week. 

Rankin Construction Inc. is tentatively scheduled to start the work on July 9, 2024. Repairs will be made to the sections between Ridgeview Ave. and Carlton St.; Linwell Rd. and Tecumseh St. (parallel Clover St.); plus Atherton Ave. and Tecumseh St. 

The repair process will include two days of asphalt pavement removals and granular base repairs, as well as two days of asphalt paving.

On June 10, 2024, City Council adopted Official Plan Amendment No. 42 and passed By-law 2024-072 under section 17 and 34 of the Planning Act.

Morningstar Mill closure

The Morningstar Mill site (2714 Decew Rd.) will be closed to the public from June 3 until Nov. 30, 2024, to allow for the completion of a construction project. 

No parking will be available on site, but the public will still be able to access the Bruce Trail, located on the side of the property.
