The City of St. Catharines has a month-long parks and recreation celebration loaded with programs and activities to get everybody moving.
June is Recreation and Parks Month, a movement spearheaded by Parks and Recreation Ontario promoting the benefits of recreation and parks for physical, social, and environmental health. St. Catharines joins communities across Ontario in embracing the initiative to promote local programs and events, parks and facilities available for residents to enjoy.
This month, residents can enjoy playing pickle ball, ball hockey, roller skating, box soccer, fitness classes, such as Zumba, yoga, and more. Visit stcatharines.ca/JuneIsForRecreation for more details.
St. Catharines also celebrates Seniors Month in June, a time to recognize and honour the amazing older adults in the community, encourage active, healthy lifestyles, and highlight programs and activities at the City’s older adult centres.
Seniors Month kicks off at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 2. Attend a flag raising and grab some treats with Mayor Mat Siscoe at the Dunlop Drive Older Adult Centre, followed by a euchre tournament. Seniors Month will also feature live entertainment with the Old Time Fiddlers, Uke N Groove and Brad Boland. Don’t miss bingo and pizza days, fitness classes and more. Visit stcatharines.ca/JuneIsForSeniors for more details.
While most programs and activities are drop-in, some require advanced registration and may have a fee. Admission requirements, schedules and more information are available at stcatharines.ca/ActiveSTC.
Everyone can also enjoy everything St. Catharines offers at their own pace, including disc golf at Richard Pierpoint Park, St. Catharines Museum and Welland Canals Centre, the St. Catharines Farmers Market and the labyrinth at Fairview Park and more.
The City of St. Catharines maintains more than 1,000 acres of parkland which include playgrounds, multi-use courts, trails, sports fields, picnic areas, and gardens.
