Get ready to enjoy pickleball, roller / inline skating, ball hockey, box soccer, cornhole and lacrosse skills and drills June 9 through mid-August at Seymour-Hannah Sports and Entertainment Centre.
Today, the City launches “’Rec @ the Rink’ – your dry alternative to frozen fun” to offer programming on the arena’s four pads starting on Monday. During this time, a major refrigeration replacement project is taking place and there will be no ice in operation at the arena at 240 St. Paul St. W.
Reservations opened today for the programming. Activities, including some that are new for the City, will include pickleball, roller / inline skating, ball hockey, box soccer, cornhole and lacrosse skills and drills.
“Since this is the first time St. Catharines will be without ice at Seymour-Hannah Sports and Entertainment Complex, we wanted to program sports and activities on the pads so people can still have fun at the arena during the warmer months,” said Koby Vanyo, the City’s Programs Supervisor. “The City of St. Catharines is known as ‘The City Where Everybody Can Play,’ and this programming is just our latest demonstration of that commitment to our community.”
Drop-in programming rates will apply, as follows: Family $13.25, Child $3.25, Youth (15 to 17 years old) free, Adult $5, Older Adult $3.75 and Older Adult with an Older Adult Centre membership $2.35.
Reservations must be made in advance at stcatharines.ca/ActiveSTC to guarantee your spot. Reservations open Fridays at 8 a.m. for activities taking place the following week. When reserving a space for an activity, please review the program listing to ensure you are aware of any special requirements, such as any protective equipment.
