December 4th, 2024 – A cherished holiday tradition returns to St. Catharines this December for the 34th year!
The City of St. Catharines is delighted to present the 34th Annual Civic Christmas Carol Concert on Tuesday, Dec. 10, at St. Thomas Anglican Church, 99 Ontario St. The event will run from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., with doors opening at 11:30 a.m. Admission is free, and monetary donations are encouraged in support of Community Care of St. Catharines and Thorold.
This year’s event details include performances by the Ridley College Vocal Ensemble, the Laura Secord Secondary School Concert Choir, and the Civic Brass Ensemble. The concert will also feature the Massed Choir, conducted by Ross Stretton, with organist Lesley Kingham providing accompaniment.
We are particularly excited to welcome Dr. Lesley Rigg, President and Vice-Chancellor of Brock University, as this year’s guest speaker. Dr. Rigg brings a unique perspective on the meaning of Christmas, drawing from her role as a leader in education and her deep connection to the community. Her message is sure to inspire and bring warmth to this special occasion.
This festive event also offers an opportunity to support Community Care of St. Catharines and Thorold. Monetary donations collected during the concert will directly benefit their wide array of services, which provide food security, housing help, clothing, and emergency health support to individuals and families in need. Community Care is a vital resource for residents, helping them navigate challenging times. Your contributions will help spread hope and kindness throughout our community this holiday season.
As we come together to celebrate, we’re reminded of the true spirit of the holidays—connection, compassion, and giving back. Through music, reflection, and generosity, the Civic Christmas Carol Concert offers a chance to embrace the season and make a difference.
Those not able to make the Dec. 10 concert will be able to watch the broadcast on YourTV Niagara. Times are still being finalized, but you can check out their website (yourtv.tv/niagara/schedule) for updates.
