The City of St. Catharines has been recognized on the international stage, earning a finalist spot for the Institute of Asset Management’s (IAM) Corporate / Organization Transformation Award.
The IAM Awards celebrate best practices in asset management worldwide, drawing entries from leading organizations across multiple sectors. Competition was strong this year, and being named a finalist is a remarkable achievement that reflects the quality of the City’s work. St. Catharines was selected alongside municipalities and organizations from across North America, highlighting the City’s innovation and leadership in this field.
“This recognition reflects the City’s commitment to innovation and to using the best available tools to make smarter choices for our community,” said Erin O’Hoski, Deputy CAO. “By investing in modern asset management practices, we’re making sure that today’s decisions set St. Catharines up for long-term sustainability and success.”
The recognition stems from the City’s implementation of Decision Optimization Technology (DOT) in partnership with SLBC Inc.
This platform enables optimized, data-driven decision-making to support sustainable infrastructure planning, ensuring the City can stretch dollars further while continuing to deliver reliable services.
“This project demonstrates how advanced technology can help us make better, evidence-based choices about where and when to invest in infrastructure,” added Samantha Downing, Manager of Infrastructure Assets. “It means we can plan smarter, protect taxpayer investments, and deliver reliable services to residents over the long term.”
The City’s transformation journey was made possible through strong leadership, collaboration, and the invaluable support of SLBC Inc. and the DOT implementation team.
