The City’s interim property tax bills for 2026 have been issued, after being mailed and made available through the e-billing portal on Feb. 6, 2026. Any property owners who have not received their bill should contact Citizens First at 905.688.5600 or CitizensFirst@stcatharines.ca.
Interim property tax bills include levies from the City of St. Catharines, the Niagara Region, and the Province of Ontario. Interim bills represent the first half of the year’s total taxes. The Interim bill is calculated as 50 per cent of the previous year’s total final taxes. There are two instalments for the interim tax bill:
• First instalment due by Feb. 27, 2026
• Second instalment due by April 30, 2026
Payments received after 4:30 p.m. on instalment due dates will be subject to a 1.25 per cent late payment charge on the first day of default and the first day of each calendar month until settled.
The City of St. Catharines offers a variety of payment options, including monthly and installment pre-authorized payment plans with no added interest where amounts will be withdrawn automatically on the scheduled due dates. Residents are encouraged to choose the payment method that best suits their needs. Payments can also be made:
• At your financial institution, or through its telephone / online banking system by adding the City as a payee;
• By credit card online at stcatharines.ca/PayOnline (convenience fees apply);
• In person from Monday to Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. at City Hall, where cash, cheques, and debit are accepted.
Please reference your 19-digit roll number which is also your account number located at the top right corner of your bill when making payments. You can also deposit your cheque in the after-hours deposit box at City Hall, located at the James Street entrance. Do not deposit cash.
Final property tax bills are typically issued in June, once the current year’s tax rates have been approved. Learn more about property taxes at stcatharines.ca/Taxes.
