Labour Day is Monday, Sept. 1, and there are still plenty of activities residents of St. Catharines can enjoy throughout the city during the last long weekend of summer.
While the outdoor pools at Port Dalhousie and Lincoln Park have closed, you can still make a splash one more time at Lion Dunc Schooley Pool in Merritton. A reminder that crossing guards will be back on duty at various crosswalks within the city to assist residents travelling to school. Please exercise additional caution when approaching a crosswalk.
The historic Lakeside Park Carousel will be open for its regular summer hours – from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. all weekend, including Monday, Sept. 1. The price remains five cents per ride or admission by donation. After Labour Day, the Carousel will only be open on weekends through to Thanksgiving weekend, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Check out stcatharines.ca/carousel for more information.
The St. Catharines Farmers Market operates 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30. Robert Alfieri will be live on the Market Stage, with The Discovery Table featuring information about pears. Visit the animals at Happy Rolph’s Animal Farm before they leave for the season at Thanksgiving. The farm allows for fun, family-friendly, free animal viewing along with a playground, trails and open space. It’s open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. For more information visit stcatharines.ca/happyrolphs.

The St. Catharines Museum and Welland Canals Centre is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. all weekend, including Sept. 1. Explore the museum exhibits to find out more about our City’s history, check out the Ontario Lacrosse Hall of Fame and Museum, and spend some time watching as ships move through Lock 3 of the Welland Canal. A reminder, the Museum’s annual Guided Spirit Walks at Victoria Lawn Cemetery start Sept. 4 and tickets are going quickly. Advance tickets are required and can be purchased on ActiveNet by searching “Spirit Walks”.
