Help the City of St. Catharines celebrate arts in the community by nominating a local artist or arts champion.
Local artists, residents, businesses, and organizations are eligible to be nominated for the annual awards in the following categories: the Arts in Education Award, the Emerging Artist Award, the Established Artist Award, the Making a Difference Award, and the Patron of the Arts Award.
Nominees must be a St. Catharines resident or have been consistently active in the arts in the city for an extended period.
“There are so many artists, producers, administrators, educators, and arts supporters in St. Catharines whose commitment and talent are integral to the City’s vibrant arts and culture sector,” Culture Coordinator Ashley Judd-Rifkin said.
“The Arts Awards are a way for us to celebrate their accomplishments and thank them for their ongoing contribution to our community.”
The annual City awards celebrate excellence in all areas of artistic creation – recognizing artists, as well as those who support them through their leadership, financial support, and volunteer efforts.
The nomination deadline is June 14 at 4:30 p.m.
A jury of arts community leaders will adjudicate the nomination submissions to select the award recipients. The jury will evaluate nominations on artistic excellence, career, and impact of the individual, collective or organization.
A member of the City’s Arts and Culture Advisory Committee will audit the jury session to ensure a fair and transparent selection process.
The 2024 St. Catharines Arts Awards will be presented on Nov. 3 at the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre in the Robertson Theatre.
Since the awards’ inception in 2005, more than 80 awards have been presented to artists, businesses, individuals, and organizations who have demonstrated excellence in artistic creation and contribution to the arts in St. Catharines.
