Water Certificates

Water certificates provide information regarding outstanding balances on water accounts. They are often requested during the sale, purchase, or refinancing of a property.

For sale of property, water certificates are provided after closing and include a copy of the final water bill. Verbal information is provided prior to closing (included in the cost of the water certificate).

Water Certificates for refinancing are processed upon receipt of written request with payment.

The water certificate fee is $75.85 per water account.

How to request a water certificate

Submit a written request with cheque payable to the City of St. Catharines.

• In person at the Citizens First counter at City Hall.
• After hours drop box, located at the James Street entrance of City Hall.

Water verbals provide information regarding outstanding balances on water accounts. They are often requested during the sale, purchase, or refinancing of a property. Verbal information is available for law office purchase only.

The water verbal fee is $24.65 per water account.

How to request a water verbal

Submit a written request with cheque payable to the City of St. Catharines.
