Tax Certificates
If you are a property owner in the City of St. Catharines, you can access your property tax certificates online by using the Tax Certificate Online Tool (TCOL). TCOL is a fast, convenient way to view a statement of your taxes online.
Why do you need a tax certificate?
You will need to obtain a tax certificate if you are:
- Buying or selling a property
- Showing outstanding taxes or arrears
How to request a tax certificate
To request a tax certificate using TCOL, you must:
- Create an account in TCOL
- Provide the roll number, municipal address or PIN from the property
- Complete the purchase with a credit card
Once the payment is confirmed, you will receive the electronic certificate in less than a minute for most certificate request types.
Fees
To request a tax certificate through TCOL, the fee is $120.85.
To request a tax certificate manually through City Hall, the fee is $133.90.
Please note: A Manual Tax Certificate has a longer turnaround time of approximately three to five business days, and cheques should be sent to or dropped off at City Hall. The Online Tax Certificate option available through TCOL has an immediate turnaround once payment is received online.
