City closing pools and sports fields and cancelling outdoor events for Thursday, July 16

Due to the Air Quality Warning issued by Environment Canada, the City is closing its outdoor pools and sports fields and cancelling its outdoor activities and events, including:
  • City outdoor swimming lessons and aquatic programs
  • The Lakeside Park Carousel
  • City outdoor recreation programs
  • Permits for outdoor spaces
The City welcomes anyone looking to beat the heat to the St. Catharines Kiwanis Aquatics Centre and other select City facilities.
  • City splash pads will remain open until 9 p.m.
  • The St. Catharines Museum and Welland Canals Centre is open until 8 p.m. tonight.

Road Closures for July 16

- Jul 16, 2026

The following roads are closed on Thursday, July 16, 2026:

  • Inglewood Road is closed from Lucerne Place to Ashford Place for sewer work

  • The intersection at Vine Street and Parnell Road remains closed due to construction.
