City of St. Catharines Mayor Mat Siscoe and U.S. Consul General Baxter Hunt take a moment to stop at a memorial tree and read the plaque in honour of a Canadian who died in the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks during the City's 9/11 25th anniversary commemoration event and tree planting on Sept. 10, 2026.

Mayor Mat Siscoe has ended the State of Emergency declared in response to the significant flooding that impacted St. Catharines following extraordinary rainfall in late July and early August. Ending the State of Emergency does not mean flood recovery is over. The decision to terminate the State of Emergency under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act was made as immediate emergency conditions have stabilized and the City continues its transition from emergency response to ongoing recovery.
