Activities and Closures in St Catharines for Labour Day 2026

The last long weekend of summer is just around the corner, with Labour Day falling on Monday, Sept. 7. Residents can make the most of it with plenty of City activities and amenities to enjoy.

Lakeside Park Carousel  
The historic Lakeside Park Carousel will be open for its regular summer hours – from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. all weekend, including Sept. 7. The price remains five cents per ride or admission by donation. After Labour Day, the Carousel will revert to its weekend schedule up until Thanksgiving, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Check out stcatharines.ca/carousel for more information.

Morningstar Mill
The mill reopened to the public earlier this summer and will be open during the weekend, as well as Labour Day, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for mill and house tours.

Happy Rolph’s Animal Farm
Visit the animals at Happy Rolph’s Animal Farm before they leave for the season at Thanksgiving. The farm allows for fun, family-friendly, free animal viewing along with a playground, trails and open space. It’s open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. For more information visit stcatharines.ca/happyrolphs.

Splash pads
Splash pads will be operating on their regular hours (10 a.m. until 8 p.m.), including Sept. 7. Stop by Bogart Street Park, Catharine Street Park, Lester B. Pearson Park, Secord Woods, and West Park for some fun in the water. For more details, and locations, visit stcatharines.ca/splashpads.

St. Catharines Farmers Market
The St. Catharines Farmers Market operates 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5. Avenue Inn will be live on the Market Stage, with The Discovery Table featuring information about Corn with Neufeld Family Farm. St. Catharines Kiwanis Aquatics Centre
St. Catharines Kiwanis Aquatics Centre will be open all weekend and Monday for leisure activities and fitness activities. Visit stcatharines.ca/ActiveSTC to reserve a spot.

Lion Dunc Schooley Pool
The Lion Dunc Schooley Pool in Merritton remains open for the weekend, but closes for the season on Monday, Sept. 7. Check out the schedule at stcatharines.ca/ActiveSTC.

Garden City Golf Course
The Garden City Golf Course is open all weekend, including the holiday Monday. Tee off as early as 7:30 a.m., with the final tee time available at 5:20 p.m. Whether you're looking to get in a quick nine or enjoy a full 18, come spend part of your long weekend with us! St. Catharines Museum and Welland Canals Centre
The St. Catharines Museum and Welland Canals Centre is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. all weekend, including Sept. 7. Explore the museum exhibits to find out more about our City’s history, check out the Ontario Lacrosse Hall of Fame and Museum, and spend some time watching as ships move through Lock 3 of the Welland Canal. The following City facilities will be closed on Monday, Sept. 7, in recognition of Labour Day:

•    Dunlop Drive and West St. Catharines Older Adult Centres
•    Victoria Lawn Cemetery administration office (visitation is always available from dawn to dusk)
