The City of St. Catharines operates three arenas with seven ice pads conveniently located throughout the city. They provide citizens and visitors with the opportunity to get involved in a wide variety of healthy activities for all ages and skill levels and to contribute through community events as spectator or participant. These include recreational and minor hockey, public skating, figure skating, lacrosse, tournaments and special events.

 Bill Burgoyne Arena

Location: 129 Linwell Rd.

A single ice rink on a concrete slab floor approximately 185 feet long by 85 feet wide with seating and standing room capacity for 800 spectators.

This accessible facility is located on a public transit route. Bill Burgoyne Arena also features:

  • Concession stand
  • Seating and bleachers
  • Timekeeping clock
  • PA system
  • Lighted parking
  • Automatic external defibrilators.

Garden City Arena Complex

Location: 8 Gale Cres.

Open 6:30 a.m. to 12:15 a.m. daily.

The Garden City Arena Complex consists of the Jack Gatecliff Rink with its operating ice surface with standing room capacity for 3,046 spectators and the Rex Stimers Rink which operates as a concrete surface facility for indoor sports.

This arena is accessible and located on public transit routes. The Garden City Arena Complex has:

  • Lighted parking lots
  • Vending machines
  • PA system
  • Timekeeping clock
  • Automatic external defibrillators

 Meridian Centre

Meridian Centre is a multi-function sports complex equipped with an NHL sized rink and unique spaces to host events of any size. 

The City-owned facility opened in 2014 as the municipality's premier sports and entertainment venue, under the operation of ASM Global. The Centre serves as the new home of the Niagara IceDogs and Niagara River Lions and has attracted world-class entertainment to the city's core with performances from the likes of Elton John, City and Colour, Cirque du Soliel, and the Tragically Hip.

Seymour-Hannah Sports and Entertainment Centre

 Location: 240 St. Paul St. West

Open daily from 6:30 a.m. to 12:15 a.m.

Office hours Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Seymour-Hannah Sports and Entertainment Centre boasts four NHL size ice pads, alongside the Wormald, Masse, Keen and Lopinski Mini Rink; Parks, Recreation and Culture Services administration offices; the Lookout Sports Lounge; concession booths; a sports store; and a sports clinic.

This arena is accessible, including Braille signage, and is located on public transit routes. It features the following:

  • Wi-fi Internet access
  • Licensed restaurant
  • Sports store
  • PA system
  • Air conditioning
  • Automatic external defibrillators on site.
