From keeping cool at City pools and splash pads, to live music and family fun by the lake, to exploring history at the St. Catharines Museum and Welland Canals Centre, there’s much to do in St. Catharines on Canada Day.
Lakeside Long Weekend returns to Lakeside Park Monday, June 30 and Canada Day, Tuesday, July 1. Presented in partnership with Cicada Music and Arts Festival with support from Heritage Canada and Experience Ontario, Lakeside Long Weekend brings together the community for a cultural celebration with live music, art and family fun. Admission is free.
Lakeside Long Weekend kicks of on Monday, June 30 from 5-9 p.m. while festivities on Canada Day Tuesday, July 1 run from noon to 10 p.m. Activities include a live painting, a life-sized LEGO lounge and inflatable games. Long Weekenders can contribute to a collaborative work of art with Willow Arts Community and enjoy family activities with St. Catharines Fire Services.
At 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1, St. Catharines will participate joins the national Canada Day Drumming initiative and cities from across the country in a powerful six-minute drumming celebration of diversity, peace and unity.
The Lakeside Long Weekend live music lineup for July 1 features Crown Lands Cuff the Duke, the Redhill Valleys, Permilla, Lunipeer, Sleepy Jean, Feverish Lemons and Rockin' Time with Mr. Rob and Friends.
Local food trucks and craft drink vendors will be onsite with food and beverages for purchase. A fireworks display over Lake Ontario will light up the night sky around 10 p.m. to close out the City’s Canada Day celebrations.
Parking is free on Canada Day Tuesday, July 1 and a free continuous shuttle will also be running run from Bill Burgoyne Arena to the park from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Parking is limited! Consider ride share, public transit, or active transportation.

The Lakeside Park Carousel, a historic, Charles I.D. Looff carousel that features 68 hand-carved animals, will be open Tuesday, July 1 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Still only 5 cents a ride.
The carousel begins its daily schedule on Saturday, June 28 and returns to its weekends and holidays schedule Monday, September 1. Learn more about the Lakeside Park Carousel.
The St. Catharines Kiwanis Aquatics Centre and the City’s outdoor pools, Lion Dunc Schooley Pool, Port Dalhousie Pool and the small pool at Lincoln Park, will be open on Canada Day Tuesday, July 1 with free leisure swimming to start the summer fun. City splash pads at Bogart Street Park, Catherine Street Park, Lester B. Pearson Park, Secord Woods Park and West Park are open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Admission is free.
Discover exhibits, watch ships from the viewing platform, explore Discovery Park and more at the St. Catharines Museum and Welland Canals Centre. Admission is by donation. The museum opens at 9 a.m. and will be Open Late, until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1.
The Canada Day Open Late features a guided tour of the Fallen Canal Workers Memorial, a 30-45 minute walk exploring stories of hard work, danger, and tragedy of the 138 men who died building the Welland Ship Canal. Tee off at the Garden City Golf Course on Canada Day Tuesday, July 1. The City-run golf course will be open from 7 a.m. to dusk, weather permitting, and will be firing up the barbecue from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday. Visit www.stcatharines.ca/Golf for more information and to book your tee time.
