All established, emerging and student artists living in the Niagara region are invited to submit their works to the 16th City of St. Catharines Annual Juried Art Exhibition, titled Layers.
The theme encourages artists to explore how they interpret the concept of layers through different approaches. The exhibition will be displayed in the third-floor gallery space at City Hall at 50 Church St. from Sept. 26, 2025, to March 13, 2026.
“We are proud to again invite local artists to submit their works to our annual exhibition,” Culture Coordinator Olivia Hope said. “Artists are being asked to interpret Layers through material, concept, or storytelling – unveiling hidden narratives, histories, or transformations.”
Submissions of original artwork in all mediums created within the past three years are eligible and a maximum of three works will be considered per artist. The City of St. Catharines now accepts 3D works provided they fit within an 18-inch square display case. Selected artists will be paid an exhibition fee, and their work will be considered for acquisition into the City of St. Catharines' Civic Art Collection. There are no costs associated with entry.
The submission deadline is Monday, June 23, 2025, at 4:30 p.m.
The City Hall exhibition program is coordinated through the Cultural Services Office at the City’s Community, Recreation and Culture Services department. The City started the exhibition program in 2005 and has continued each year with new exhibitions. The program provides City Hall visitors with original art or cultural gems that reflect city stories, creative self-expression, experiences, and perspectives.
