StayActiveSTC Challenges

 There's a  beautiful city out there. Utilizing the GooseChase App we're challenging residents to get out and explore it with a series of fun challenges, allowing them to accumulate points for taking part in game missions, and track their score against other participants.

To participate:

  1. Download the GooseChase App to your smart phone via the Google Play Store  or the Apple App Store
  2. Create a new account or login with an existing account
  3. Search for the game code of the game you wish to participate in, codes for City of St. Catharines challenges will be posted below to this site
  4. Complete the challenges missions to accumulate points!

Instructions for downloading on a hand-held device:

  1. Click on this link to open the Trail Passport
  2. If you do not have the Google Slides app on your device, you will be prompted to download this free app
  3. Once the Trail Passport opens, go to the three dots in the top right-hand corner of your screen, select "Share & export", then "Make a copy".
  4. You now have your own copy of the interactive Trail Passport to edit on your adventures!

Instructions for downloading on a desktop or laptop:

  1. Click on this link to open the Trail Passport
  2. Once the Trail Passport opens, go to File menu tab in the top left-hand corner of your screen, select "Make a copy" and "Entire presentation".
  3. You now have your own copy of the interactive Trail Passport to edit as you please!

Nordic Pole Walking 101

Join our master instructor Deb as she walks you through the basics of Nordic Pole Walking. It's a great way to get out, stay active and build balance.

Remember to consult your healthcare practitioner before undertaking any new exercise and remember these safety tips before heading out:

  • Never go Nordic Pole Walking if thunder / lightning are present or expected
  • Dress for the weather
  • Put on proper footwear to avoid injury
  • Don't forget sunglasses and sunscreen
  • Stay hydrated
  • Bring a cellphone in case of emergency
  • Bring any medications that may be needed or helpful, such as an inhaler

Lifesaving Society Water Smart Activities (click here)
Join in the fun with Lifesaving Society’s Water Smart At Home Contest. Kids can choose from two water safety activities: Complete a colouring sheet and Create a Water Smart Game. Submit a photo of your colouring sheet to to be entered into a special draw held by the City of St. Catharines.

Each session will include interactive discussion, games, videos and hands-on learning. Our small class sizes are led by Elementary Educators also trained in First Aid/CPR. Courses are hosted through Zoom and the Red Cross Babysitting manual is available digitally prior to the course, hard copies are mailed out to participants and most should arrive prior to the start of the class.
