City closing pools and sports fields and cancelling outdoor events for Wednesday, July 15.

Due to the Air Quality Warning issued by Environment Canada, the City is closing its outdoor pools and sports fields and cancelling its outdoor activities and events, including:
  • Summer Concerts (will be rescheduled)
  • City outdoor swimming lessons and aquatic programs
  • The Lakeside Park Carousel
  • City outdoor recreation programs
  • Permits for outdoor spaces
The City welcomes anyone looking to beat the heat to the St. Catharines Kiwanis Aquatics Centre and other select City facilities.
  • City splash pads will remain open until 9 p.m.
  • The St. Catharines Museum and Welland Canals Centre is open until 8 p.m. tonight.
Additional leisure swims at 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. have been added at the St. Catharines Kiwanis Centre.

Alex McKenzie Park offers a variety of recreational opportunities Outdoor areas include a lit ball diamond, lit tennis courts and playground equipment There are washrooms and a parking area on site.

Public washrooms are open from May 15 to Labour Day each year from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
