City continues Pumpkinville tradition on Oct. 17

Pumpkinville returns this October for its 38th year, continuing a beloved fall tradition with another exciting lineup of activities and events for the community. The family-friendly celebration will be held on Saturday, Oct. 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Happy Rolph’s Animal Farm, 650 Read Rd. This year’s event will feature many activities, including a photobooth, LEGO printmaking, visits from special Toy Story characters, and a scavenger hunt.

“For 38 years, Pumpkinville has brought families, friends and neighbours together to celebrate the best of fall in our community,” said Community and Events Supervisor Brianne Wilson. “We’re excited to welcome everyone back for a fun-filled day of activities and lasting memories at Happy Rolph’s.”

Attendees will once again be able to collect a free pumpkin. Supplies are limited to one pumpkin per family on a first-come, first-served basis. Hot chocolate and Timbits will be offered by Tim Hortons. A selection of food will also be available for purchase from local restaurants such as Johnny Rocco’s Italian Grill, Country Boys Mobile Food Services, and Butter & Creme Bakery and Barbecue. In addition to a variety of family friendly activities and delicious dishes, attendees will have a chance to meet the Niagara IceDogs mascot, Bones. As part of the City’s Fire Prevention Month, St. Catharines Fire Services will be participating in this year’s event and educating guests on fire prevention and fire safety. For young book lovers and creatives, the St. Catharines Public Library will also be attending. A free park-and-ride shuttle bus will be available at the Grantham Lions Club (732 Niagara St.) will run from 9:45 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to make use of the service as parking onsite is limited.

Pumpkinville also offers a last chance to visit the farm animals of Happy Rolph’s for the year before the animals return to their winter homes for the season.
