The Peninsula Orchestra The Peninsula orchestra was established as a branch of the Peninsula Music Club in 1978. The Club was an "umbrella" organization for amateur music-making which originally comprised a concert orchestra, country-and-western group, and recorder consort. Over time the C&W and Recorder groups disbanded, with only the orchestra remaining stable and functioning effectively. Subsequently the name of the group was changed to the present "Peninsula Orchestra".
The orchestra currently has around thirty members making up standard symphonic instrumentation and rehearses weekly on Monday evenings. Occasional concerts are presented for churches, seniors´ residences, community fund-raisers and recently in Simcoe Park, Niagara-on-the-Lake. Competent amateur players of standard orchestral instruments are always welcome; there are no auditions required nor restrictions as to age.
