Wedding Photos
The Carousel is available to rent on an hourly basis for wedding photos. The rental charge is $110.00 per hour. Please call a Customer Service Representative at 905-688-5601 ext. 1927 to schedule your rental.

Carousel Birthday Bash
Spend your birthday at the carousel! Come enjoy 30 mins of private carousel rides with friends and family (maximum 50 people). The birthday child will receive a carousel poster and a t-shirt. The rental charge is $70.00. Call 905-688-5601 ext. 1927 to book your party today!
The Ultimate Carousel Birthday
Come down to the Lakeside Park Carousel for the ultimate birthday party experience. The party includes inspired carousel crafts, games and carousel rides (maximum 25 people). *Attention Teachers* - Carousel School Trip Program
Our enthusiastic staff are pleased to offer your students a fun filled interactive educational program at the Lakeside Park Carousel. The program is geared to children from JK to Grade 3. Program components include: 2 hour program, rides on the carousel, a variety of organized outdoor games and a unique carousel craft. Snack and drink are provided (optional).

The Friends of the Carousel
The Friends of the Carousel is a not-for-profit organization associated with the Niagara Woodcarvers and the City of St. Catharines. They have co-ordinated many volunteers to undertake the restoration of the antique Carousel in Lakeside Park, Port Dalhousie. Members of the public, interested in the project, are welcome to contact the Friends. For further information, please contact Cultural Services Supervisor, 905-688-5601 extension 3134.
History of the Carousel
The Lakeside Park Carousel in Port Dalhousie is a Charles Looff original, carved between 1898 and 1905 in Brooklyn, New York. The carousel came to St. Catharines in 1921, from its earlier home in Hanlanīs Point, Scarborough Beach in Toronto. It was purchased to be a part of the amusement park flourishing in Port Dalhousie, and was one of 58 attractions in the park. In those days, more than a quarter million people crossed the lakes in steamships to visit Port Dalhousie on weekends.
The Lakeside Park Carousel has 68 animals, in 4 rows. Each animal has been hand-carved, and most still sport real horse hair tails. The Carousel in Lakeside Park is a fairly large carousel. Many Carousels have an outside range of 18 animals in
2 rows, with the largest Carousel containing 269 animals! Donations are welcomed at the Carousel, and are used to help maintain our treasure!  Paws, the new lion on the Lakeside Park Carousel was
hand-carved and painted by the Friends of the Carousel.
Paws is the replacement for the lion which went missing in the last thirty years!
Leo, our hand-carved Charles Looff original now has a friend again!
