Community Centres

The City of St. Catharines operates two community centres - one in the north end and one in the centre of the city.

The centres provide citizens with the opportunity to get involved in a wide variety of healthy recreational activities for all ages and skill levels.

Our community centres are used for registered programs only, and require participants to pre-register. A list of programs available at each centre is available inside the Leisure Guide and ePlay, our online program registration system.

Proposal to waive meeting room fees for emerging neighbourhood groups

Are you an emerging neighbourhood group looking for a place to meet? The City of St. Catharines wants to know if you would use a community room at the Russell Avenue Community Centre if rental fees were waived.

The City is exploring how it can help emerging neighbourhood groups get off the ground and is proposing to waive rental fees for a community room at the Russell Avenue Centre Community as a pilot project. Please note: only rental fees to use the community room will be waived and a signed permit is still required. Additional costs for insurance may be applicable and are ineligible to be waived.

To be eligible, neighbourhood groups must be:

  • Based in St. Catharines
  • Within its first two years of operation
  • Non-partisan
  • Inclusive and welcoming in membership

Use the online form to submit feedback. Neighbourhood groups can submit feedback until Wednesday, Nov. 8.

Please note: This form is a way for the City to gauge interest in its proposed program only and is not a formal application to use the community room at Russell Avenue Community Centre.

The City will use feedback to make recommendations to City Council later this year. If approved, the City's proposed program would offer meeting space on Wednesdays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and launch in the new year.

Rent a Community Centre

Both community centres are available to rent for sports, meetings, social gatherings, birthday parties and more.
