Parking Lots and Garages

Parking Options

There are more than 1000 downtown parking spots offered by the City of St. Catharines. We own and operate two parking garages and eight parking lots, in addition to offering on-street parking throughout the downtown core.

From either of our two parking garages you're only a five minute walk to City Hall, Market Square, shopping and dining.

Check out our downtown parking distance map for walking distances from the City's parking lots and garages to the Meridian Centre and other downtown attractions.

Ontario Street Parking Garage to close for repairs

The Ontario Street Parking Garage will temporarily close two weekends in June while the City of St. Catharines completes waterproofing repairs.

The City will replace some drain pipes in the parking garage as well as a thin rubberized waterproof coating on the concrete that has worn away in some areas due to regular traffic. The parking garage will be closed on the following dates:

  • From 4 p.m. Friday, June 19 to 6 a.m. Monday, June 22
  • From 4 p.m. Friday June 26 to 6 a.m. Monday, June 29

Because of the nature of the repairs, all vehicles must be out of the parking garage. Vehicles in the garage after 6 p.m. on Friday, June 19 and Friday, June 26 will be towed to the Riordon Street parking lot, across from the Garden City Arena Complex.

There will still be hundreds of parking spots available within a five-minute walk to most of downtown at the Garden Park/Carlisle Street Parking Garage, the Market Square parking lot and other City parking lots and on-street spots. Parking is free from 6 p.m. on Friday nights to 9 a.m. Monday mornings.

Fees for Parking Meters and Dispenser Lots

All City-owned and operated parking lots and garages are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Parking at certain lots and garages is free outside of normal business hours, Monday to Friday. Business hours differ for some locations, so please review the posted hours of operation listed for the location you are interested in.

All City meters have a three-hour maximum daily parking limit from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at a rate of $1.50 per hour. Metered parking is free outside those hours, except between the hours of 2 a.m. to 6 a.m., where parking is prohibited. Tokens, quarters, loonies and toonies are accepted at City meters and dispenser lots. HST is included in all quoted parking lot and garage fees.

Payment options for each parking lot and garage are included in the parking map.

Monthly Lots & Garage Permits

In downtown St. Catharines, monthly parking is available at City owned parking lots for a nominal fee. Due to the high demand for parking in the downtown core, all parking permits are issued on a first come, first serve basis.

To purchase a monthly parking permit for a surface lot, visit Citizens First, located on the 2nd Floor of City Hall between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. Methods of payment include cash, cheque, debit, VISA and MasterCard.

If you are looking to obtain a monthly parking permit for either the Ontario Street Garage or Garden Park/Carlisle Street Garage, read and complete the Monthly Parking Agreement Form prior to coming into City Hall.
