Postal Disruption

The City of St. Catharines is prepared for a possible postal disruption and  is taking steps to reduce its effects on City business.

The City suggests the residents avoid sending the City the following in the mail until after the possibility of a postal disruption has passed:

  • time-sensitive information
  • payments

Residents with questions or looking for more information about City services and payments during a possible postal disruption can contact Citizens First at 905.688.5600.

Correspondence

During a postal disruption, the City will deliver public notices and time-sensitive correspondence required by legislation by hand or by courier.

Residents can deliver time-sensitive information to the City in person:

  • Monday to Friday
    Citizens First at City Hall
    50 Church St.
    8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • After Hours
    Mail Slot at City Hall
    50 Church St.
    James Street entrance
Must be sealed in an envelope

Payments

Everyone is required to make their payments to the City on-time , even if they have not received notice by post that payments are due.

  • Property tax payments
    Final bills mailed in June
  • Water / wastewater bill payments
Arrangements made to deliver water / wastewater bills ahead of a possible postal disruption.

Anyone who hasn’t received notice for payment from the City should call Citizens First at 905.688.5600.

Residents should avoid sending payments to the City through the mail until after the possibility of a postal disruption has passed.

Payments can be made in person with cash, cheque or debit card:

  • Monday to Friday
    Citizens First at City Hall
    50 Church St.
    8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • After Hours
    Deposit box at City Hall
    50 Church St.
    James Street entrance
Must be sealed in an envelope

Property tax payments can be made at most financial institutions.

Residents can also sign-up for pre-authorized payments for property taxes and water / wastewater bill payments.

City parking tickets can also be paid online.
