Recreation Swimming Schedule

Participants must register for all activities.

No outside equipment is to be brought into the facility.

Everyone inside the facility will be required to wear a mask or face covering, except when swimming or showering. Children under the age of five and those who are unable to wear a mask or a face covering as a result of a medical condition or disability are exempt. 

The following changes will come into effect for programming beginning on Tuesday, March 2, 2021.

Reservations Per Week

To accommodate as many community members as possible we are offering two swims per week per person for Lengths Swimming, Leisure Swims and Water Walking.

Reservations are limited to one swim per day.

Resident First Swimming for All Programming

In order to provide an opportunity for residents of the City of St. Catharines, reservation for all programming (Lengths Swimming, Leisure Swim, Soak and Stretch, Adult Swim and Water Walking) will occur in advance before the reservation for guests who reside in other areas of the Niagara Region.

Reservation for St. Catharines Residents will occur at 9 am two days prior to the selected swim.

Reservation for Everyone including guests who reside in other areas of the Niagara Region will occur at 9 am one day prior to the selected swim.

  • If you are unable to come to your reservation time, please call at least two (2) hours before your time. If you miss your reservation or do not call in, you will be put on a three (3) day hold and will not be able to book during those days.

Reservation will only be taken starting at 9 a.m. two days before the day of the swim.

Any Age Lengths - Lane Pool 

To help reduce the spread of COVID-19, lane swims will meet provincial health guidelines. This program is open to those who can swim 50 metres continuously. Regular swim admission standards apply. Spectators are not permitted on pool deck or in viewing area. Regular swim admission and supervision standards apply.

Single swimmer per lane. Swimmers are to swim on the black line.

Each family member will be required to pay entry. 

Maximum two (2) swims per week (Monday to Sunday).

  • Saturday and Sunday: 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Water Walking - Lane Pool - Registration on-line or call in, starting at 9 a.m. two days before the day of the swim.

  • Monday to Friday: 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday: 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday: 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Leisure Swimming - Leisure Pool - Registration on-line or call in, starting at 9 a.m. two days before the day of the swim.

  • Monday to Sunday: 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., 3 p.m. to 4p.m., 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Monday to Friday:  12 p.m. to 1 p.m., 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
  • Saturday and Sunday: 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Soak and Stretch - Leisure Pool Adults Only - Registration on-line or call in, starting at 9 a.m. two days before the day of the swim.

  • Monday to Friday: 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

  • Clip cards and passes may be purchased at the St. Catharines Kiwanis Aquatics Centre and the Seymour-Hannah Sports and Entertainment Centre.

  • Adults may use their clip card or pass for Leisure Swims and Aquatic Activity Swims.

  • Children/Youth may use their clip card or pass for Leisure Swims and Any Age Lengths.

  • Family Pass gain families entry into Leisure Swims and Aquatic Activity Swims (adults). Family passes and Family Clip Cards may be used for your immediate family living in the same household.

  • All passes and clip cards must be submitted before entry to the pool is permitted.

  • Lost swim pass replacement fee $6 (available with proof of payment). Lost clip cards are not replaced.

  • Programs may end 5 minutes early to accommodate a transition to the next program.

  • Fitness Passes may be used for any Aquatic Fitness Program, Leisure Swim, Aquatic Activity Swims and where space is available in a registered Aquatic Fitness Program.

 Leisure Swimming Descriptions

Leisure Swim

Leisure swims are open to everyone, whether you are an advanced swimmer or if you're still wearing your arm floats. No pressure to perform or swim fast - everyone is welcome to drift lazily and enjoy a comfortable swim. These swims are an ideal time for people of all ages to play in an aquatic setting.

 Aquatic Activity Descriptions

Any Age Lengths

Everyone welcome, at least one lane open for lengths swimming. To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone, please check how pool lanes are divided and/or designated to other activities. Observe the pace of swimmers before jumping in to find the lane that best suits your pace. See a lifeguard if you require assistance.

Water Walking

Self-guided time in the lane pool. Use a floatation belt for support to eliminate any impact on your joints. Enjoy the social aspects of this friendly and relaxing environment.

Soak and Stretch

A program for individuals who require space and time in the leisure pool to work through prescribed exercises or simply want to enjoy the benefit of the warm water.

Admission Requirements

 Admittance & Supervision Requirement for Children 

To assist us in ensuring your children have a safe and enjoyable swimming experience, the City of St. Catharines has implemented a wristband procedure. This system allows us to identify children at risk and ensure adequate supervision when in the pool area. All children 10 years of age and under will be given an identifying wristband by the facility staff. Any guest, regardless of age, may be required to complete the facility swim test in order to swim in the deep area of the pool. All children, 10 years of age and under, will be required to complete the facility swim test in order to swim in the deep area of the pool.

Child must remain in the shallow end of the pool.

Pass Facility Swim Test Green

If child passes the facility swim test, the orange wristband is removed and replaced with a GREEN wristband.

Child may be admitted unaccompanied.

11 yrs + No supervision required    

At the lifeguard's discretion you may be asked to complete a swim test in order to swim in deep water.

 * Always Accompanied: Must be accompanied at all times in the water, within arms reach by a parent, guardian or designate (caregiver) who is at least 14 years of age.

Admittance Requirements for Day Camps & Groups

Arrangements for your group should be made with the Recreation Coordinator at 905 688 5601 ext. 1958 in advance of your arrival. The group caregiver(s) are entirely responsible for their group while in the facility and must effectively supervise the group at all times. Admittance and Supervision Requirements must be met.

Private Rentals

Admittance and supervision requirements for children must be met for all private rentals.

Serious Medical Conditions

Those with serious medical conditions should be accompanied by an individual knowledgeable of their condition and responsible for their direct supervision. Your medical doctor should be consulted before swimming. To help ensure the maximum safety of all our patrons, we ask that those with serious medical conditions please report to the lifeguarding staff before entering the pool.

 Facility Swim Test

Foot first jump into shallow water. Tread water for one minute and swim a recognizable front crawl for 20 metres without feet touching the bottom at any time.
