Celerbate Earth Day in St. Catharines with a number of activities focused on conservation and the environment.

Earth Day Celebration at Market Sqaure

  • Friday, April 26
  • 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Market Sqaure (91 King St.)

Meet the City of St. Catharines to learn about water quality, take the tap-water taste test, discuss reducing single-use plastics and enjoy other environmental activities at the Links for Greener Learning’s annual Earth Day Celebration at Market Square.

Pitch-In Day

  • Saturday, April 27
  • 9 a.m. to noon
  • Various sites in St. Catharines

Help make St. Catharines a more beautiful place by taking part in the Pitch-In Day This year's designated sites include:

  • QEW off ramp at Lake Street
    Meet at the Best Western Plus parking lot at 2 North Service Rd.
    No children under 12 years old
  • QEW off ramp at Ontario Street
    Meet at the Henley Square plaza parking lot at 395 Ontario St.
    No children under 12 years old
  • Fairview Park (Former Fairview Golf Course)
    Meet at Pet Smart parking lot at 40 YMCA Dr.
  • Roehampton Park / CNR Spur Line
    Meet in the parking lot at 55 Roehampton Ave.
  • Rotary Park
    Meet in the parking lot at 395 Pelham Rd.

You can also help clean your own neighbourhood or favourite park. Supplies are available.

Earth Day Celebration and Native Plant Sale

  • Saturday, April 27
  • 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Malcolmson Eco-Park (325 Lakeshore Rd.) Parking is available at the nearby Grantham Lions Club (732 Niagara St.)

Help the Friends of Malcolmson Eco-Park and the City of St. Catharines plant trees and wildflowers and look for something for your own garden at the annual Earth Day Celebration and Native Plant Sale. Activities include:

  • Park clean up
  • Plantings
  • Weeding and mulching gardens
  • Presentation on how to avoid invasive species from taking root.
  • Annual Earth Day tree planting and dedication, with invited dignitaries, at 11 a.m.

The plant sale will feature more than 100 other native trees, shrubs, wildflowers and grasses, including:

  • Butterfly Weed
  • Trilliums
  • Black Eyed Susans
