What’s open, what’s closed for Thanksgiving weekend with the City of St. Catharines

City Hall and administration buildings, alongside several recreation facilities are closed on Thanksgiving Monday.

The following City facilities will be closed on Monday, Oct. 11, 2021:

  • City Hall
  • The Citizens First customer service desk
  • The St. Catharines Enterprise Centre remains closed
  • City arenas
  • City sports fields
  • St. Catharines Kiwanis Aquatics Centre
  • Port Weller Community Centre, closed Sunday and Monday
  • Russell Avenue Community Centre
  • Port Dalhousie and West St. Catharines older adult centres, closed Saturday, Sunday, and Monday
  • Dunlop Drive Older Adult Centre
  • Victoria Lawn Cemetery offices closed (visitation is always available from dawn to dusk)

While the above closures will be in effect, there’s still plenty to do with the City of St. Catharines this weekend. Please continue reading for more information.

St. Catharines Farmers Market

Open Saturday, Oct. 9 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. with live music from Vox Violin, 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Come enjoy some tunes and check out what’s fresh from Niagara farmers, as you find some local bounty for your holiday meal. For more information, please visit stcatharines.ca/Market

St. Catharines Museum and Welland Canals Centre

The museum is open all weekend long, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Current exhibits include Marking Time, an exploration of the way we create memories and mark time using the museum’s collection of textiles, photographs and artifacts; and Positive About Being Positive, celebrating over 30 years of HIV/AIDS advocacy by Positive Living Niagara. St. Catharines Kiwanis Aquatics Centre

Those hoping to take a dip can head over to the St. Catharines Kiwanis Aquatics Centre. The centre is open Saturday, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Sunday from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Visit www.stcatharines.ca/SKAC for more information and registration requirements.

Lakeside Park Carousel

Lakeside Park Carousel will be open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday. It’s the last weekend of the season before the beloved attraction closes for the season on Tuesday.

Morningstar Mill

Morningstar Mill will be open Saturday, Sunday and Monday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Masks are required, and capacities will be reduced to allow for physical distancing. Visit www.stcatharines.ca/morningstarmill for details. The grounds around the heritage buildings and the trail system adjacent to the mill, are also open for use. Hiking in off-trail areas, including watercourses, can pose serious risks and is not advised.

Happy Rolph’s

Enjoy the sights and sounds of the animals, and the new playground, at Happy Rolph’s Animal Farm this weekend. This will be the final weekend the animals are present for the season. The park itself is open seven days a week from dawn to dusk, with the farm animals available for viewing from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The park, which also includes a playground, picnic area and trails along the shore of Lake Ontario, is located at 650 Read Rd.
