Public notice: Lakeside Park Parking Lot closed May 10 to 21 for resurfacing

Posted on Friday May 07, 2021

Note: due to positive trends in the weather and an absence of other delays the resurfacing of the Lakeside Park Parking Lot will be completed ahead of schedule. The lot will reopen around 4 p.m. on May 14, 2021.

The parking lot at Lakeside Park will be closed to vehicles from May 10 to 21 for resurfacing.

With the reconstruction of the west pier in Port Dalhousie, at Lakeside Park, nearing completion; the contractor working for Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) is rectifying minor deficiencies and completing final works, including the restoration of the park and associated parking lot, prior to completing the project.

Due to the general poor condition of the parking lot and additional damage / deterioration to the parking surface over the past two years, the DFO and the City of St. Catharines are partnering to resurface the entire parking lot. This will mitigate future liabilities, decrease continued maintenance costs, and improve overall user experience at the park.

This work will commence on Monday, May 10, 2021 and continue until Friday, May 14, 2021 at 4 p.m. During this period the parking lot will be closed to the public. Access to Lakeside Park will be maintained to pedestrian traffic.

Alternative parking (see map below) is available at:

  • The Port Dalhousie Older Adult Centre
  • Rennie Park
  • Jaycee Park
  • Port Dalhousie Lions Club
