Refrigeration system to be evaluated at Rex Stimers Rink

Posted on Friday July 20, 2018

To ensure ice users can drop the puck this season, Rex Stimers Rink users will have the opportunity to skate at other arenas in the City while the rink’s refrigeration system is being evaluated.

Due to the age of the facility and refrigeration plant equipment, as well as anticipated changes to health and safety regulations, the City of St. Catharines will be evaluating the plant to identify the necessary upgrades required to continue ice operations at Rex Stimers. Following the evaluation, a report will be presented to Council with recommendations for Council’s consideration.

Ice-user groups will be accommodated at the City’s other arenas during the upcoming season.

The City will continue to operate ice pads as usual at all other arenas, including Jack Gatecliff Rink at the Garden City Arena Complex. As always, public skating and other drop-in ice programs are available at the Seymour-Hannah Sports and Entertainment Centre.

The pubic skating schedule is available at www.stcatharines.ca/Skating or by calling 905.688.5600.
