Canada Day holiday hours

Canada Day is Monday, July 1.

Below is the listing of operating hours at City of St. Catharines facilities over the Canada Day long weekend, as well as some activities you can enjoy.

Canada Day at Rennie Park

Celebrate Canada Day with live entertainment, family activities and cupcakes Monday, July 1 at Rennie Park, from noon to 4 p.m. Festivities begin with Melissa Marie Shriner helping open things up with the singing of O Canada. Also entertaining will be Tim Holland, the Puppet Tamer, from 12:15-12:45 p.m., The Practically Hip from 1-2:30 p.m. and Crash Rhythm, with interactive bucket drumming, from 2:45-3:15 p.m.

Canada Day in Rennie Park also includes bouncers, crafts and games, pony rides, buskers and more. Visit www.stcatharines.ca/CanadaDay for more information.

A free shuttle bus will operate from 11:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., from the Port Dalhousie Lions Club parking lot, 201 Main St., and the Port Dalhousie Pier Marina parking lot, 80 Lighthouse Rd. Free parking is also available at City parking lots and on-street meters within walking distance of Rennie Park. Revellers can also park at Ontario Jaycee Gardens Park, 543 Ontario St., and access Rennie Park via the pedestrian bridge.

Canada Day at St. Catharines Museum

The St. Catharines Museum and Welland Canals Centre celebrates Canada Day with live cultural performances, carnival games and more, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Entertainment will include Ruta Sur at 11 a.m., Filipino Canadian Association of Niagara at 12:30 p.m. and Niagara Multi-Folk Arts Song and Dance Ensemble at 2 p.m. The museum will also be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., allowing visitors to explore the museum galleries. Admission is by donation. Visit www.stcatharinesmuseum.ca for more information.

St. Catharines Transit will have bus service at the museum every 30 minutes from 10:27 a.m. to 5:27 p.m. Visit http://www.yourbus.com for details on routes and fares.

A Canadian Celebration at St. Catharines Farmers' Market

Join us at the market on Saturday, June 29 from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a pre-celebration for Canada Day. Farmers' markets are the original 'grocery store' carrying all of your local needs for your Canada Day celebration. Locally grown and raised produce and meats, local VQA wine and a large assortment of fresh baked goods. The Market Discovery Table brings you everything Canada from educational pieces to sampling local maple syrup, from 9-11 a.m. Musical entertainment kicks off at 11 a.m., running until 1:30 p.m.

Free swimming

You can enjoy free leisure swims on Canada Day at the St. Catharines Kiwanis Aquatics Centre, Port Dalhousie Pool, Lincoln Park Pool and Lion Dunc Schooley Pool. Visit www.stcatharines.ca/poolevents for locations, schedules and admission requirements.

Morningstar Mill

The picturesque Morningstar Mill heritage site at Decew Falls will be open for tours on Canada Day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Learn more at www.stcatharines.ca/MorningstarMill.

St. Catharines Farmers’ Market

Head downtown to Market Square on Saturday, May 18, between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. to enjoy the fresh bounty the St. Catharines Farmers’ Market has to offer. Learn more about the market and its vendors at www.stcatharines.ca/farmersmarket.

Garden City Golf Course

Go for the green at the Garden City Golf Course on Canada Day. The City-run golf course will be open from 7 a.m. to dusk, weather permitting. Learn more at www.stcatharines.ca/Golf.

The Film House at FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre

The Film house will be closed for Canada Day, but screenings of The GrizzliesWild Nights with Emily and Breaking Habits will be screening over the weekend.

Theatre fans can enjoy The Writer, the first play offered during this year’s Foster Festival on Friday, Saturday and Tuesday.

Splash Pads

The City’s inclusive splash pads at Bogart Street Park, Catherine Street Park, Lester B. Pearson Park and West Park are open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Admission is free. Learn more at www.stcatharines.ca/SplashPads.

Parks and trails

Explore and enjoy City parks and trails from dawn until dusk but to do so carefully by following posted rules and being mindful of others. While using trails, residents should be aware of their surroundings at all times, stick to established paths, remain alert and watch their footing.

For those visiting Happy Rolph's, farm animals are available for viewing between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m.
