Labour Day hours of operation

Labour Day Information

The Labour Day holiday is Monday, Sept. 2. Here is what's open and what's not at the City of St. Catharines.

Aquatic Facilities

St. Catharines Kiwanis Aquatics Centre is open from 5:30 a.m. until 9:30 p.m.

Lion Dunc Schooley Pool is open but closes at dusk for the season. 

City splash pads are open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. until the end of September (weather dependent). 

Garden City Golf Course

Swing on by to the Garden City Golf Course. The City-run golf course will be open from 7:30 a.m. to dusk, weather permitting. Book your tee time or learn more here.

Lakeside Park Carousel

The Lakeside Park Carousel will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. 

After Labour Day, the carousel will be open just on weekends from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. until its closure end of day on Thanksgiving Day, Oct. 14.

Morningstar Mill

Tour the picturesque Morningstar Mill heritage site at Decew Falls from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. 

St. Catharines Museum and Welland Canals Centre

Enjoy exploring the museum galleries and watching ships travel through Lock 3 of the Welland Canal from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is by donation. Learn more here.

Closures

The following City facilities will be closed:

  • City Hall
  • Dunlop Drive, Port Dalhousie and West St. Catharines older adult centres
  • Enterprise Centre
  • FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre
  • Meridian Centre
  • Parks, Recreation and Culture Services administration offices
  • Russell Avenue and Port Weller community centres
  • Seymour-Hannah Sports and Entertainment Centre, Bill Burgoyne Arena and Garden City Arena Complex
  • Victoria Lawn Cemetery administration office (visitation is always available from dawn to dusk)

Other Information

Transit

St. Catharines Transit will be implementing schedule changes on Sept. 1 along with running on a holiday schedule for Labour Day. Transit will return to its regular schedule on Tuesday, Sept. 3.

 

Back to School

Expect to see more students on the street around the same time as your commute starting Tuesday, Sept. 3. The City reminds residents to be aware and respect directions from crossing guards. Visit stcatharines.ca/SchoolCrossing for more information

 

Emergency contacts

To report fallen trees, road and sidewalk maintenance issues, blocked catch basins or sewer back-ups, call the City at 905.688.5600.

To report power outages, call Alectra Utilities at 905.684.8111.
