Victoria Day weekend hours

Victoria Day is Monday, May 20.

Below is the listing of operating hours at City of St. Catharines facilities over the Victoria Day long weekend, as well as some activities you can enjoy.

Carousel Opening Delayed

Please note, the Lakeside Park Carousel opening has been delayed due to the flooding of Lake Ontario into Lakeside Park. City staff will continue to monitor water levels at the park and hope to open the carousel as soon as possible.

Parks and trails

Regular maintenance at City parks and trails began earlier this month and will continue until Thanksgiving weekend. We encourage everyone to explore and enjoy City parks and trails from dawn until dusk but to do so carefully by following posted rules and being mindful of others. While using trails, residents should be aware of their surroundings at all times, stick to established paths, remain alert and watch their footing.

Happy Rolph's Animal Farm

Goats, llamas, horses and all the other lovable farm animals are back at their summer home. Happy Rolph's Animal Farm is open from dawn to dusk and also features a large playground, picnic area and stunning views of Lake Ontario from the 9/11 Memorial Walkway. Splash Pads

The City’s inclusive splash pads at Bogart Street Park, Catherine Street Park, Lester B. Pearson Park and West Park are set to open for the season Friday, May 17, weather permitting. Splash pads are open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Admission is free. Learn more at www.stcatharines.ca/SplashPads.

St. Catharines Museum and Welland Canals Centre

The St. Catharines Museum and Welland Canals Centre is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. all weekend, including Monday, May 21. Explore the museum galleries and exhibits, and view some historic gems currently on display, including the Victory Flag awarded to the City in 1918 in honour of the community’s efforts to raise victory bonds in support of the First World War. Admission is by donation. Learn more at www.stcatharinesmuseum.ca.

The Victory Flag is part of the museum’s launch its annual Open Late program. The museum is open until 8 p.m. on Tuesdays from May 21 to October 8. The program launches with Wavin’ Flag. Help build a flag quilt and build your own Victory Flag.

Morningstar Mill

The Morningstar Mill heritage site at Decew Falls opens for the season on Saturday, May 18. You can tour the grist mill and the miller’s house on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Learn more at www.stcatharines.ca/MorningstarMill.

St. Catharines Farmers’ Market

Head downtown to Market Square on Saturday, May 18, between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. to enjoy the fresh bounty the St. Catharines Farmers’ Market has to offer. Learn more about the market and its vendors at www.stcatharines.ca/farmersmarket.

Garden City Golf Course

Go for the green at the Garden City Golf Club all weekend, including Victoria Day Monday, May 20. The City-run golf course will be open from 7 a.m. to dusk, weather permitting. Learn more at www.stcatharines.ca/Golf.

The Film House at FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre
Looking to enjoy some indoor activities? The Film House will have screenings on the weekend, but will be closed on Victoria Day, Monday, May 20. Weekend screenings include The Beach Bum, This Magnificent Cake and Amazing Grace, the Aretha Franklin concert film / documentary. General admission is $9.50. Film house members pay $7.
