Overview

Information regarding minimum setback requirements can be obtained by contacting the Planning and Building Services department.

Process

Two sets of complete construction drawings, drawn to scale, must accompany all applications for permits.

When a permit has been issued, City building inspectors conduct inspections for the levels of construction outlined on the issued permit. However, for complex projects (and some minor projects) a schedule of inspections may be required to be arranged with the local inspector.

Inspections

Inspections, depending on the construction being done, may include some or all of the following stages: footings prior to pouring concrete, foundations prior to backfilling, framing, insulation, final / occupancy.

It is the responsibility of the owner, or his or her agent, to call for inspections during certain stages of project construction. To arrange an inspection, please contact the Planning and Building Services department at least 48 hours in advance to schedule the date for the inspector to visit your project.

Fees
