Youth Forum Task Force

Youth Forum Task Force Recruitment

Applications for the City's Youth Forum Task Force are currently under staff review. Thank you to everyone who applied for their interest. A report will go to City Council soon with recommended appointments to the task force..

Statement of Purpose

The Youth Forum Task Force will be responsible for the planning, implementation, and coordinating funding (e.g. fundraising, sponsorship, etc.) for an annual youth forum.


The Task Force shall be comprised of up to 15 members as follows:

  • Two Task Force Leaders between the ages of 19 and 30
  • Up to 12 Student Members representing a cross section of high school students and the diversity of St. Catharines youth
  • Councillor Kevin Townsend

Current year

Students from high schools across St. Catharines are eligible to apply to be Student Members on the Task Force.

Future years

The Task Force Leaders will recruit and appoint Student Members for one-year terms, coinciding with the school year. The recruitment and appointment process shall be approved by the City Clerk to ensure fairness and transparency.

Reporting Structure 

The task force reports to Council through the Social Sustainability Committee. If required due to event related time constraints the task force may report directly to Council.

Administrative support to the Committee shall be provided by Parks, Recreation and Culture Services, which shall assign a Secretary to the Committee. Additional staff resources will be provided, as required from time to time.

Membership Term

The Task Force Leaders

Term of Council, or as determined by City Council. 

Student Members

One-year terms, coinciding with the school year.

Recruitment for the task force is currently underway.

Meeting Schedule and Location

The Task Force will meet monthly, or as required, at the discretion of the Chair.

Meetings will be held the second Tuesday of each month from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the St. Catharines Kiwanis Aquatics Centre.


The Task Force shall conduct its meetings in accordance with and otherwise comply with the City of St. Catharines Simplified Meeting Procedures for advisory bodies.

In accordance with these procedures, members may be removed from the committee if they miss three consecutive meetings or more than 50% of the meetings in a calendar year.
