Replacement of Third Ave. Louth Bridge at Richardson Creek

Project No: P18-123

Replacement of Third Ave Louth Bridge at Richardson Creek

Notice to property owners and residents

Please be advised that a contract for has been awarded. The successful contractor, Anthony’s Excavating Central Inc. is tentatively scheduled to start work November 2020. The construction will take approximately two months to complete.

The proposed construction project includes:

  • Excavation of the road and surrounding soil to expose the existing concrete box culvert.
  • Removal of the existing culvert.
  • Installation of a new culvert foundation.
  • Installation of a new precast concrete culvert.

Every effort will be made to maintain access to abutting properties and to minimize inconvenience to residents, businesses and pedestrians. A construction inspector from Associated Engineering representing the City will be present on site during construction and can be contacted on site for information.

Road closures and detours

In order to protect construction workers and the public and to complete the work safely and in a timely manner, temporary detours and road closures will be required during construction. These detours and closures will be minimized as much as possible and, although the contractor will provide traffic control personnel, traffic will be unavoidably congested at times. The contractor will co-ordinate to ensure Emergency Services has access to properties throughout construction.  Please contact us if you have specific accessibility requirements or concerns.

Although the contractor is required to provide safe pedestrian access, care should be exercised when walking through the construction zone. It should be noted that there will be no access across the creek during construction and the temporary detour will need to be utilized.

Garbage and recycling collection during construction

As a result of the proposed construction on your street, it may at times be difficult for the garbage and recycling vehicles to collect your waste.  Therefore, until the construction work is completed to a point where the vehicles may travel safely in your area at their normal collection time, we are requesting that the garbage and recycling be placed out for collection by 6:30 a.m. or alternatively the evening before your scheduled day.

The garbage and recycling trucks will be dispatched regularly, however, if there is no access to pick-up the waste in front of your property due to construction, the construction crews may relocate the garbage to a more convenient area for pickup before starting work each morning.  Thank you for your cooperation in this regard.
