Pelham Road Bridge Rehabilitation

The City of St. Catharines will be undertaking rehabilitation of the Pelham Road Bridge at the CN Rail Corridor, with construction tentatively scheduled to begin Aug. 21, 2020. Construction should take approximately four months. Details of the project are outlined below.

What We're Doing

 

The proposed project includes:

 

  • Bridge Rehabilitation.
  • Repaving of Pelham Road approach.
  • Construction of new parapet walls, various curb, and sidewalk.
  • Replacement of street lighting.

Traffic and Property Impacts

This work is tentatively scheduled to start on August 21, 2020, and in order to complete the rehabilitation of the Pelham Road Bridge safely and in a timely manner:

  • Lane reductions of Pelham Road will be required at the location of the structure for the duration of the project.
  • Hamilton Street at Pelham Road will be closed to vehicular traffic.
  • Vehicles may enter Monck Street from the northbound lane of Pelham Road only. Vehicles exiting Monck Street may only turn right.

The City of St. Catharines recognizes that construction is an inconvenience to residents and business owners. Every effort will be made to minimize any inconvenience to local residents and to carry out the work with as few interruptions to services as possible. We thank-you for your patience. Accessibility

Every effort will be made to maintain access to abutting properties and to minimize inconvenience to businesses, residents and pedestrians. A construction inspector, from Ellis Engineering, will be present on-site during construction and can be contacted for information.
