Former General Motors lands action plan

The City of St. Catharines continues to take steps to address the safety and security concerns related to the state of the property commonly referred to as the former General Motors lands on Ontario Street.GM Action Plan

The City will be posting updates, when available, on this page. Please check back regularly.

May 6, 2020: City Council received a memorandum providing a status update on efforts to address safety and security concerns, including ongoing retention of a private security firm.

March 9, 2020: City Council has received a memorandum to provide a status update regarding the actions requested at the Jan. 27 Council meeting. The City also recieved correspondence from Jeff Yurek, Minister of the Environment, Conservation and Parks, providing an update from the ministry.

February 24, 2020: City Council received a verbal update during its regular council meeting, as well as a written memo with updates following the Council resolution passed at its Jan 27 meeting. The City has also received some correspondence from Niagara Region and Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority.

If you see something, say something

Residents can assist by reporting suspicious, dangerous or criminal activity at the site to the Niagara Regional Police. If you witness a crime in progress, such as break and enters, trespassing or graffiti, please call 911.
