Statement of Purpose

On June 8, 2015, under the recommendation of the Ad Hoc Budget Review Committee, City Council approved the establishment of a Budget Standing Committee. This committee was originally structured as a three year pilot project, however, the Committee has since continued their work and remains a key component of the budget process.

The Budget Standing Committee works on behalf of City Council to address high level strategic budget and policy decisions. The Committee will provide financial guidance and oversight from a broad perspective to assist and improve upon the City's budget process, as well as short, medium and long-term financial planning.

Composition and Membership

The Budget Standing Committee is comprised of six members of Council and is supported by City staff.

Membership List:

As of May 31, 2021, the Budget Standing Committee was suspended. Until the 2022 Operating and Capital Budgets are approved by Council, all members of Council will now consider items that otherwise would have been considered by the Budget Standing Committee.

Reporting Structure

At the Budget Standing Committee meeting of January 7, 2019, Councillor Mat Siscoe was appointed as the Committee Chair and Councillor Lori Littleton was appointed as Vice Chair for the four-year term of Council.
