Everyone that has filed a nomination paper with the City to participate in the Municipal and School Board Elections as a candidate must in turn file their financial statement with the City Clerk after each election. These statements detail the income and expenses incurred during the candidate's campaign.

Your completed financial statement must be submitted to the clerk by 2 p.m. on the last Friday in March (March 29, 2019).

All financial statements are public documents. The Clerk must retain the statements until the new council takes office after the 2022 scheduled election. These documents may be inspected in person during normal office hours or by clicking on the corresponding links below.

Any person may make extracts from the documents and is entitled to copies of the documents but must only do so knowing that the information obtained shall only be used for election purposes as per the Municipal Elections Act.

The campaign period ends on Monday, December 31, 2018. However, if a candidate's campaign has a deficit, they can extend their campaign in order to do some additional fundraising. If they want to extend their campaign, they must notify the clerk on or before Monday, December 31, 2018, using the Notice of Extension of Campaign - Form 6.
The campaign may be extended until June 30, 2019. If they extend their campaign they must file two financial statements:

  • a financial statement reflecting the campaign until December 31 (due March 29, 2019)
  • a supplementary financial statement that includes the information from the initial statement and adds financial information from the extended campaign.

The supplementary financial statement must be filed with the clerk by 2 p.m. on Friday, September 27, 2019.
