Please bring a non-perishable food item, hats or mittens for Community Care St. Catharines & Thorold.Kids, Canada Post will be collecting letters for Santa along the parade route.

 Applications for the parade will be available September 3rd and will close on October 18th. All participants will be notified of their status by October 25th.

If you can't make it out to see the parade in person, join Lori Taraba and Jack Peets for live coverage of the Parade on YourTV Niagara, Ch. 700 starting at 5:00 PM! The Parade will also air on YourTV Tuesday Nov. 19th at 6:00 PM and Tuesday Nov. 26th at 7:00 PM. 

Pre-Party Details

Meridian Centre - Free Family Skate 

2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Entrance/Exit Point

  • Please use the Rankin Gateway


  • Doors open at 1:30 pm with access to change rooms to lace-up.
  • Everyone 14 years of age and younger must wear a helmet while on the ice.
  • No Equipment on the ice (sticks, pucks, etc...)
  • Only plastic skating aids are permitted
  • The Meridian Centre does not rent out skates or provide helmets


Post-Party Details

A very special partnership event hosted in conjunction with the Hotel Dieu Shaver Tree Lighting Celebration at Market Square from 4pm to 7 p.m.

  • Visit with Santa & Mrs Claus - bring your own camera for photos with Santa from 5pm-5:45 p.m. & 6:15 p.m. to 7 p.m..
  • Join Hotel Dieu Shaver as they flip the holiday switch and officially light the Holiday Tree at City Hall. 
  • Kids Crafts
  • Face Painting
  • Inflatables
  • Food Trucks & Vendors

Parade Line-Up Information

Parade Line-up number

  •  Parade registration begins at 2:30 pm on Sunday, Nov. 17
  • Access to the line up site is available at McGuire and St. Paul Crescent - only floats or vehicles participating in the parade will be allowed into the line-up area.
  • Participants walking/riding or otherwise involved in the parade can be dropped off at the barricades of McGuire and St. Paul Crescent and enter the line-up area on foot. 
  • Access to the line-up area to drop off participants will not be allowed.
  • One member from your entry needs to check in with the registration team as indicated on the map.
  • Washroom facilities are available on site.
  • The parade begins at 4:45 p.m., rain, snow or shine. 

Accessing the Parade Line-up Area

  • Access is at the corner of McGuire and St. Paul Crescent
  • The barricades will be manned by staff to allow entry.
  • Only vehicles/floats participating on the parade route will have access to this area, with the exception of buses.
  • Buses will have access entry to drop off bands and large groups with available parking close by. 
  • If you are distributing candy or information during the parade please ensure that your team keeps moving and does not slow down the procession. 

Exiting the Parade Route

  • No stopping!
  • If you have to stop pull over so others can pass

Certificates of Insurance

Below is the summary for insurance requirements:

  • comprehensive public liability and property damage insurance in the amount of $2,000,000.00, including:
    • Personal Injury Liability;
    • Property Damage,
    • Broad Form Property Damage (including Completed Operations);
    • Contractual Liability;
    • Non-owned Automobile Liability;
    • Products—Completed Operations;
    • Contingent Employers Liability;
    • Cross Liability and Severability of Interest clauses.
  • The Certificate of Insurance must name ‘The Corporation of the City of St. Catharines, 50 Church Street, St. Catharines, ON L2R 7C2’ as an additional insured.

Parade Route:
  1. Parade begins on McGuire Street at David S. Howes Way
  2. Travels along McGuire Street, left on Carlisle Street
  3. Travels along Carlisle Street, left on St. Paul Street 
  4. Travels along St. Paul Street, right on James Street 
  5. Travels along James Street, left on Church Street
  6. Ends at City Hall.
