Celebrate Canada's 151st Birthday with the City of St. Catharines.

Join us for fun family activities, live music and other festivities on Monday, July 1, 2019 at Rennie Park in beautiful Port Dalhousie. 

There are also a variety of other activities to help you show your pride for our country.


Canada Day at Rennie Park - noon to 4 p.m.

Food and Beverage

  • Food and beverages available for purchase.
  • The Port Dalhousie Lions Club will be on site barbecuing hot dogs and hamburgers.
  • A variety of cold drinks will be available.

Parking & Shuttle Information

  • A free shuttle bus will operate from 11:45am to 4:15pm from both the Port Dalhousie Lions Club Parking Lot (201 Main Street) and from the Port Dalhousie Pier Marina Parking Lot (80 Lighthouse Road). Look for Shuttle Signage. 
  • Free parking is available at City parking lots and on-street meters within walking distance of Rennie Park.
  • Parking is also available at Ontario Jaycee Gardens Park, 543 Ontario St. Access Rennie Park via the pedestrian bridge.
  • Entertainment and activities subject to change without notice.
  • Bring your own lawn chair.

The Port Dalhousie Lions Club fireworks will be held at 10 p.m. on Canada Day from Henley Island. Residents can view the fireworks from Jaycee Park or Rennie Park. Residents will not be able to access Henley Island during the fireworks display. A rain date of Tuesday, July 2nd, 2019 has been set.

Canada Day at the St. Catharines Museum - 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

While the festivities are from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., the museum will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is by donation to this family friendly event. 

Free swimming

Enjoy free leisure swims on Canada Day at all the City's pools.

  • Lane Pool: 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., 1-4 p.m.
  • Leisure Pool: 8-9 a.m., 11 a.m. to noon, 1-3 p.m. and 6-7:30 p.m.

Lincoln Park Pool - 63 Chetwood St.

  • 11:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
  • 4:30 - 8 p.m.

Lion Dunc Schooley Pool - 32 Seymour Ave.

FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre

The Film house will be closed for Canada Day, but screenings of The Grizzlies, Wild Nights with Emily and Breaking Habits will be screening over the weekend.

Theatre fans can enjoy The Writer, the first play offered during this year’s Foster Festival on Friday, Saturday and Tuesday.

Garden City Golf Course

Go for the green at the Garden City Golf Course on Canada Day. The City-run golf course will be open from 7 a.m. to dusk, weather permitting. Visit our Garden City Golf Course webpage to book your tee time.

Morningstar Mill

The picturesque Morningstar Mill heritage site at Decew Falls will be open for tours on Canada Day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.


The following facilities will be closed Monday, July 1 for the Canada Day holiday:

  • Parks, Recreation and Culture Services administration offices
  • Meridian Centre
  • Russell Avenue and Port Weller community centres
  • Dunlop Drive, Port Dalhousie and West St. Catharines older adult centres
  • Victoria Lawn Cemetery administration office (visitation is always available from dawn to dusk)
  • Bill Burgoyne Arena
  • Garden City Arena Complex
  • Seymour Hannah Sports and Entertainment Centre
