Map to Lakeside Park

Small section of Lakeside Park Beach unavailable Friday, Aug. 18 to Monday, Aug. 21

A small part of Lakeside Park Beach will be unavailable over the weekend for restoration work now that the record-breaking high water levels of Lake Ontario have receded.

The City has sectioned off a 30-metre-by-20-metre area on the west side of Lakeside Park Beach where three large trees were felled and pieces of debris have been unearthed by the receding high lake levels. City staff estimate that 90 per cent of Lakeside Park Beach is still available for residents to enjoy.

The City has already removed debris like construction material, glass and large stones from the area, and cut the three fallen trees down to stumps. Each stump weighs more than 225 kilograms and will be removed by end of day Aug. 21, along with wood from the trees and other debris.

Beach maintenance issues can be reported to Citizens First at 905.6888.5600.
