Spectator Facility
The downtown spectator facility will provide a new home for St. Catharines-based OHL team the Niagara IceDogs, as well as serve as a venue for other sports and entertainment events.
The 4,500 to 5,300 seat venue will be built in the existing lower level parking lot, located behind the City's main thoroughfare, St. Paul Street. This location will prove critical in efforts to transform the city's core and will join the future Performing Arts Centre and the Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts as a building block in downtown revitalization.
Approved by Council in December 2011, the spectator facility will be developed using a design-build framework, with CBRE Limited acting as project manager. Upon completion, the facility will be operated by venue management firm SMG Canada ULC.
Ball-Rankin Construction Inc. with PBK Architects Inc. will undertake the design and build of the facility. Construction began in December 2012 and is expected to be completed in the fall of 2014.
