Parks and Green Spaces

Belmont Park

The City of St. Catharines administers and maintains more than 1,000 acres of parks and trails. Within the parks are 250 carefully manicured floral displays.

The City of St. Catharines also offers permits for special events, picnics and wedding photos as well as a host of playing fields available for rental.

Looking for a unique way to remember a loved one? The City offers a memorial bench and tree program.

Be aware and take care

  • Regular maintenance of City parks and trails begins in May and continues until Thanksgiving weekend.
  • Residents are encouraged to explore and enjoy City parks and trails from dawn until dusk
  • Follow posted rules and be mindful of others.
  • While using trails, residents should be aware of their surroundings at all times, stick to established paths, remain alert and watch their footing.

Tick Safety

Ticks are very small, ranging in size from a poppy seed to a small grape (when engorged). Ticks are normally found in forested areas or areas with long grass, where they attach themselves to humans and animals passing by. The majority of ticks in Niagara are harmless to humans and pets; however, a small percentage of ticks can carry and transmit the bacteria that cause Lyme disease.

Visit the Niagara Region Public Health website for information on ticks, tick prevention and what to do if you are bitten by a tick.
