Celerbate Earth Day in St. Catharines with a number of activities focused on conservation and the environment.

Mayor's 20-minute Clean up

Wednesday, April 19
Beacon Christian School

Mayor Walter Sendzik will discuss the City's green initiatives with students at Beacon Christian School and help clean up their playground.

Earth Day expo

Friday, April 21 - 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Market Square

Discuss water quality and the environment with City staff and learn about sustainability from other organizations at the Links for Greener Learning's Earth Day Celebration at Market Square.

Pitch-In Day Clean City Clean Up

Saturday, April 22 - 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Various sites in St. Catharines

Help make St. Catharines a more beautiful place by taking part in the Pitch-In Day Clean City Clean Up from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

This year's designated sites include:

  • QEW off ramp at Lake Street (meet at the Best Western Plus parking lot  at 2 North Service Rd., no children under 12 years old)
  • Malcomson Eco-Park (325 Lakeshore Rd.)
  • Pic Leeson Park (main entrance off of Bloomfield Street)
  • Participark Trail (meet at trail parking lot on Old Glendale Road near Pelham Road and Glendale Avenue)

You can also volunteer to help out at these alternate sites:

  • Benfield Drive (behind Walmart plaza) - join volunteers to clean up along the fence line.
  • Vintage Park - Located at 66 Vintage Cr.
  • Old Welland Canal along Oakdale Avenue - join volunteers to clean up from the historic Knifeworks site to the north end of Moffatt Street. Meet in parking lot at corner of Eastchester Avenue and Oakdale Avenue.

You can also help clean your own neighbourhood or favourite park. Supplies are available. Get a group together and call 905.688.5600 to register and to let us know where you'll be cleaning up so we can arrange to pick up the trash.

Malcolmson Eco-Park Earth Day Celebration

Saturday, April 22 - 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Malcolmson Park - 325 Lakeshore Rd.

Help plant trees and wildflowers at Malcolmson Eco-Park and find something for your yard and garden at the Friends of Malcolmson Eco-Park's native plant and tree sale.

Paw Paws, Trilliums, Black Eyed Susans and more than 100 other native trees, shrubs, wildflowers and grasses will be for sale.

The annual Earth Day tree planting and dedication, with invited dignitaries, takes place at 11 a.m.

Parking is available at the nearby Grantham Lions Club (732 Niagara St.).

Centennial Park Earth Day Celebration

Saturday, April 22 - 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Centennial Park - 321 Oakdale Ave.

Join community volunteers as they clean up litter and celebrate Centennial Park.
