Overview

Centennial Gardens was unveiled in 1967 to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Canada. It is located in Merritton Ward and provides a variety of passive recreational opportunities. The Merritt Trail passes through the park and provides opportunities to view the locks and path of the First and Second Welland Canals or travel further north or south along the Canal Valley. At the south end of the park, beneath Westchester Crescent, are the remains of one of the stone locks from the Second Welland Canal.
This is a beautiful park to visit, plan a picnic or have lunch. Within the park, visitors can view a special Centennial gift to the City, a totem pole.
Along Oakdale Avenue, Climate Action Niagara oversees a very busy community garden that provides opportunities for residents to grow their own produce. There is a small parking area located off of Oakdale Avenue.
