adopt-a-Street

What is it?

The Adopt-A-Street  program is a public service program for volunteers to pick up litter along municipal right-of-ways. It is a way for environmentally conscious citizens, communities, civic organizations and private businesses to contribute to a cleaner and more beautiful environment.

How does it work?

Groups will be required to sign an agreement with the City to clean the municipal right-of-way a minimum three times a year and abide by requirements ensuring the safety of volunteers.

If a group wishes to adopt an area that is already being maintained by another group, alternate areas will be suggested. Also, some streets within the City of St. Catharines are owned by the Regional Municipality of Niagara. If a group selects one of these areas, they will be directed to the Region's Adopt-A-Road program coordinator.
